Early Childhood Education
Possibility City knows that there's no more important task than educating young people - and that the effort can't start too early.
The groups working to educate the youngest Louisvillians include:
- Success By 6, Metro United Way's school-readiness initiative. It works with partners in six counties to get children ready for kindergarten - healthy, safe, nurtured and prepared for school.
- Jefferson County Public Schools has more than 300 different classes for three- and-four-year-olds, including Head Start and Pre-Kindergarten programs.
- Community Coordinated Child Care (4C) offers a searchable database of child care providers; offers training; helps low-income parents pay for care; and is an advocate for preschool parents and children.
- First Steps is a statewide early-intervention program that provides services to developmentally disabled children ages three and under.
Key institutions in Louisville - Louisville Metro Government, Metro United Way, JCPS - have long, strong records in support of early education.
Possibility City gets the possibilities growing as soon as it can.
