DESCRIPTION:Smoketown’s Trellis Brewing is expanding its taproom experience with the launch of Trellis Foods\, a new in-house kitchen centered on one idea: food built for beer. Opening Friday\, April 10 at its Logan Street taproom (827 Logan Street)\, the addition brings a full food program into the brewery for the first time. Chef James Andrews\, previously of Red Hog Restaurant & Butcher Shop\, leads the kitchen. Trellis Foods will operate Monday through Friday from 5pm to 9:30pm\, and on weekends from 11am to 9:30pm. \n\nStarters include house-made beer cheese with pretzel chips\, chili cheese fries\, and rotating frito misto. Mains range from steak frites with skirt steak and au poivre to the Trellis Burger on a Martin’s potato bun\, alongside a lineup of dogs like the Seattle Dog with cream cheese and red hot onions\, and the KY Slaw Dog with scratch chili and Kentucky slaw. The menu also emphasizes locally sourced ingredients\, with products from producers such as Fischer Farms (St. Anthony\, IN) and Rootbound Farms (Crestwood\, KY). Hot dogs are sourced from Sahlen’s in Buffalo\, NY\, a nod to owner Kyle Jahn’s family connection in to the area. \n\nFor weekend brunch\, the Monte Cristo Dog layers French toast batter\, gruyère\, and raspberry jam\, while the Breakfast Dog adds egg\, cheese\, and sausage. \n\n“Our goal wasn’t to open a restaurant inside a brewery\,” said Kyle Jahn\, owner of Trellis Brewing. “It was to build food that actually belongs here. Everything on the menu is designed to work with the beer\, not distract from it.
