SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans, organizes and delivers the program of instruction based on approved curriculum; monitors, evaluates, and communicates student progress; maintains records and makes reports; enforces Board policies, regulations, and rules; supervises students, and secures and maintains school property and materials

Requirements to be an Occupation Based Teacher:

  1. Applicant must be a US Citizen with a high school diploma or GED.  
  2. Four (4) years of successful and appropriate occupational experience in the teaching area. A maximum of one (1) year of the required work experience may be satisfied by completion of an accredited occupational preparation program for the occupation to be taught; and,  
  3. At least two (2) years of the occupational experience completed within the last five (5) years.

Certification requirements:

  • Hold a professional teaching certification for the appropriate course code as listed under https://applications.education.ky.gov/SCCD/Home/Index
  • OR
  • Meet Occupation-based teaching requirements (see attached Occ Based CTE Requirements and Hiring Procedures document)

  • Issuance of one year Provisional Certificate; completion of three (3) semester hours of credit in the occupational area OR successfully completing the New Teacher Institute (NTI) 

 Additional training may be required.
