ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP
Greater Louisville Inc., along with its talent attraction brand Live in Lou, is seeking a creative, self-motivated undergraduate student to complete an internship with the Talent & Workforce team during the Spring/Summer of 2023. The selected intern will report to the Manager of Talent Outreach & Engagement and will be responsible for supplementing and supporting the initiatives of the Talent & Workforce team at Greater Louisville Inc., the Metro Chamber of Commerce, and its talent attraction brand, Live in Lou. The intern will be tasked with various projects to amplify GLI’s voice in the community and create innovative and creative solutions. While the intern will mainly work on talent and workforce development projects, there may also be opportunities to collaborate with the other departments and teams.

Events may include ribbon-cuttings for new businesses, networking events, advocacy and legislative functions, educational seminars, and more.

INTERNSHIP ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop a deeper understanding of the GLI and Live in Lou brands, including talent attraction, top industries for workforce development, economic development, communications, and diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Research and gather resources for the Live in Lou website, serving existing and new Louisville residents, along with those interested in relocating to the region.
- Research and gather content to be distributed to incoming students at local colleges and universities.
- Research and identify products and pricing for new, branded Live in Lou gear. Present research and recommendations for LIL new products and new engagement strategies for LIL target audiences to the Live in Lou team.
- Work with GLI departments to provide helpful workforce data as needed.
- Contribute during departmental meetings.
- Assisting with miscellaneous tasks as assigned by supervisor(s).
INTERNSHIP REQUIREMENTS:
- Working toward a bachelor’s or master’s degree in public relations, marketing, communications, tourism, hospitality, or a related field.
- Represent Greater Louisville Inc. and the Live in Lou brand in a professional and positive manner.
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to learning, continuing to explore opportunities and asking questions.
- Confidence in demonstrating ability and skills. If there is a project at GLI or Live in Lou that you want to take part in, or a new idea you have, we want to hear it.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills; good judgment and ability to manage ambiguous or complex topics; and strong work ethic and leadership skills.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, quick deadlines and priorities.
EVALUATION:
The purpose of this internship is to introduce you to the GLI and Live in Lou brands and help you develop professional work experience. You will be evaluated throughout the course of your internship, as any employee would be. A midpoint evaluation to solicit your feedback will take place, as well as an evaluation of the internship upon program completion. You are strongly encouraged to submit your own ideas, insights and opinions on your tasks and performance throughout the program.
TENTATIVE SCHEDULE:
You will be given an 8-week plan divided into three-week plans with specific goals. Throughout your internship, you will have one-on-one meetings with your supervisor to discuss your progress and future goals. In addition to the job duties, you will have the opportunity to work with your supervisor to develop your personal and professional skills. The work schedule will be 15-20 hours per week, determined by the intern’s school schedule.

Week 5: Assist with the Workforce Ecosystem Hub and identify/catalog existing work-based learning/ internship / apprenticeship programs. Attend GLI events when time allows. General office work.
