Kentucky Derby Museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization that sits on the front steps of historic Churchill Downs Racetrack. It is one of the premiere attractions in the Louisville region, celebrating the tradition, history, hospitality and pride of the world-renowned event that is the Kentucky Derby. The Museum welcomes over 240,000 visitors annually; a large percentage of those visitors come from outside of Kentucky, journeying from across the country and the world.

Position:              Accounting Assistant
Department:        Finance
Reports To:         Director of Finance & Accounting
FLSA Status:       Full-Time, Salary (Non-Exempt)

Summary of Position:  The Accounting Assistant will provide day-to-day support to the accounting department with general accounting and reporting duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Reconciles daily deposits and creates spreadsheets with detailed information for the Museum.  Makes daily bank runs.
Processes all accounts payable invoices and AP payments, including monthly reconciliation for Museum.
Obtains vendor W-9 forms and W-9 files.
Reconciles monthly credit card statements and prepaid insurance invoices for Museum.
Assists with annual financial audit.
Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent required
2-3 years of bookkeeping/full-cycle accounting experience required
Sage Oasis experience strongly preferred.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to analyze and problem solve.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel, preferred.
Must be able to sufficiently pass a criminal background check.
Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
