Summary:   Conducts guided walking tours of Churchill Downs and/or Churchill Downs Backside tours; greets visitors; collects and rings-in appropriate individual and group admission fees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  (Other duties may be assigned.)
Greets visitors, ring-in appropriate individual or group admission fees.
Conducts walking tours of Churchill Downs and/or Churchill Downs Backside tours
Well-versed in Kentucky Derby and Thoroughbred racing history and trivia.
Keeps informed on museum exhibits and events.
Be able to give directions to visitors.
Be customer service oriented.
Perform front desk maintenance duties.
Keep current on company computer, telephone system and other visitor services technology.
Knows the names, titles and basic duties of all museum’s staff
Work evening events

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
Tenth-grade education or its equivalent, no experience required.
Language skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as applicable discounts and total charges and change due.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving many variables in varied situations.
Computer Skills:
To help perform this position successfully, an individual should be knowledgeable of Microsoft Word, Outlook and RetailPro.
Certificate, Licenses, Registrations:
Racetrack license, paid for by the museum.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Be able to perform front-line duties in a professional, friendly and welcoming manner.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands and finger to handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is frequently required to walk; sit and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Able to conduct ½ hour walking tours and/or 1 hour driving tours of Churchill Downs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.  The employee is exposed to heat and cold along with wet and/or humid conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
