Job Title:                      Electrical Estimator

Business Unit:          Meiners Electric – Louisville, KY



Reports To:                 Business Development & Preconstruction Manager



Job Description


The Estimator position will use technical knowledge and experience to provide detailed, complete and accurate electrical estimates. This position will report to the Business Development & Preconstruction Manager but may also support project managers in the creation of estimates and change order cost breakdowns.


Roles and Responsibilities:

·       Drive successful implementation of Meiners Electric and Customer strategic initiatives

·       Relationship management – both internally within Meiners and externally between Meiners, Meiners Customers and Meiners business partners

·       Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and determine a clear path of action with goals and metrics in all areas of responsibility

·       Work within company policies as outlined in the Meiners Employee Handbook




·       Read and understand electrical drawings

·       Study electrical specifications to determine appropriate construction methods

·       Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to communicate project requirements and obtain quotes

·       Evaluate construction methods and determine cost-effectiveness of contract documents

·       Assist Preconstruction Manager and Project Managers with the analysis of projects, comparison of estimates and compilation of information

·       Help fulfill the commitments of the Estimating Department

·       Ensure standards, policies and procedures are used for estimating

·       Develop quality standards and monitor compliance through all phases of quantity take off and estimating processes in coordination with company standards

·       Organize information into a coherent, meaningful format

·       Perform other duties as assigned

Ability to read and understand complex electrical drawings and specifications
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite – including Excel, Word, MS Project, Power-point (or similar)

·       5-10 years electrical estimating experience is required

·       Previous experience in using electrical estimating software (McCormick, Accubid, etc.)

·       Previous experience in commercial and industrial electrical work is required.
