Description
Essential Functions:
Assesses and counsel patients in basic nutrition in areas not requiring intensive nutrition counseling
Conducts nutrition education classes for clients and the public
Examples of Duties
Examples of Work:
UNDER GENERAL SUPERVISION
Prepares reports and correspondence, completes special projects, and maintains records and files
Determines eligibility for nutrition programs by assessing patients for nutritional risk
Counsel patients in basic nutrition principles, food selection, food preparation, and budgeting using food vouchers, food subsidies, or government commodities to affect a change in participant’s lifestyle
Maintains individual patient records according to medical record procedures
Refers citizens to governmental, community, and social service agencies for assistance
Prepares materials, arranges and conducts nutrition education classes for clinic participants and public groups
Performs related work
Minimum Requirements
Physical Requirement & Working Conditions:
Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree
Dietetics
Nutrition
Public Health Nutrition
Other Minimums:
Must provide one’s own source of transportation
Must work a varied schedule
Equivalency:
Four years of nutrition: assessments, counseling or education classes experience
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
