Job Description
To promote and sell Greater Louisville as a destination for conventions and trade shows by soliciting assigned accounts. Responsible for achieving individual sales goals annually, consisting of room nights booked, number of bookings and team effort.


Work with the Bureau sales staff in cooperative effort to generate potential business.
Make formal written or oral invitations to associations in session.
Work with local community contact recommended by national organizations in order to create a relationship that will enhance the bidding process for a national meeting.
Be a member of association groups in which the executive staff would attend in order to develop a good business relationship.
On an ongoing basis, review all hotels and conventions facilities and personnel at these facilities to insure a better understanding of their capabilities and to develop team spirit within the city and county.
Keep records of all sales calls for future follow-up.
Keep financial records of all expenditures for sales calls or promotions as outlined by financial guidelines.
Any other duties as directed by the SVP of Convention Development, Executive Vice President and/or President and CEO of the Bureau.
Responsible for room nights booked quarterly as well as booking goals as established by the Senior VP of Convention Development and Executive Vice President.
Function as an official representative of the Bureau and act as a liaison between the Bureau, hotels, halls and the potential client.
Coordinate and direct special events such as sales blitzes, convention bid promotion, trade shows, FAM tours, etc.
Handle the following markets (subject to change).

Bachelor’s degree, 3 to 5 years of related industry experience
Hotel product and staff knowledge, previous client contact beneficial
An understanding of sales methods, procedures and techniques is also required
Computer proficiency with MS Windows/Office
Good communication skills, both written and oral, to interface well with Bureau staff, hotels, clients, and facilities
Ability to calculate, project and use numbers for planning, reporting, presentations, etc.
