The Accounts Receivable Specialist is an important piece to the overall operations of Mercer’s Rates, Billing & Collections department, and its continued success to all independent contractors (drivers) leased to Mercer Transportation. By maintaining and controlling the accounts receivables, this position takes appropriate action to ensure prompt payment of freight invoices and making weekly adjustments within the general ledger.

Shift: Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm
Pay: $16/hr, paid bi-weekly.

Essential Job Functions
-Maintains and controls accounts as designated by the Administration Manager.
-Initiates reminder when an account has aged 21 days. Initiates contact on invoices aged 30 days or more and follows up as necessary.
-Processes emails and phone calls concerning requests for bills of lading, delivery proofs, unpaid invoices and corrected freight bills.
-Sends under/overpaid invoices to the Rate Department for verification of billed charges.
-Requests and mails refund checks to customers after invoices have been verified as overpaid.
-Sends balance due invoices with proper backup to customer.

Essential Skills and Experience
-One (1) year of clerical experience, six (6) months of which must have included multi-phone system, customer service and/or similar business acumen, with concentration on organization, coordination, and performance of duties at a responsible level.
-Ability to answer phones, maintain accurate correspondence and field/answer all routine and non-routine questions.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to convey information effectively and provide others with a clear understanding of information.
-Ability to provide full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
-Ability to work independently on assigned tasks, as well as to accept direction on given assignments.
-Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize.

Education Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent.
