What does a Mercer Transportation Brokerage Sales Representative do?
Brokerage Sales Representatives act as a communication point to the truck drivers; effectively¬† and strategically finding loads with the driver’s preferences in mind and overseeing the distribution of products to and from customers. As a Brokerage Sales Representative, you will should be an excellent communicator and able to remain calm, composed, and concise. You must be able to multi-task as well as take the appropriate action with little supervision. The goal is to save drivers time and help in making the best business decisions for them by understanding the fluctuating market and remaining committed to identifying the best rates and loads!

Schedule: This is a Part-Time position. We are open Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm and part time schedule will be created within these hours.
Pay: You will receive an hourly wage in addition to a comprehensive incentive program.
$7.25/hr + commission.

Job duties often include:
Good communication and a positive attitude are a must. Must be able to communicate well with agents, drivers, and fellow employees.

  • Handles inbound telephone traffic to maximize the use of carrier availability. Assists agents and freight coordinators in matching broker trucks with available loads to maximize efficiency.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with Carriers.
  • Makes outbound calls to offer freight to outside carriers.
  • Handles check calls and advance requests from carrier drivers and dispatchers in accordance with established policy.

Skills and knowledge a Brokerage Sales Representative should know:

  • Excellent customer service.
  • Ability to stay organized with materials and time is essential.
  • Ability to efficiently answer and respond to questions regarding freight.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills used to effectively convey information with a clear understanding to others.

Education Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent.



Compensation: You will receive an hourly wage in addition to a comprehensive incentive program.
