Job Description: Field Construction

Primary Function:

Weld and fabrication of material for production of equipment and systems. Erection of the finished product in the field.

Essential Functions:

Perform welding task, flat and some out of position mg, arc, torch
Prepare material for welding
Operate shop tools – hand drill, grinder, etc.
Operate all shop and field equipment as needed for specific operation
Organize and layout, fit up small sub-assemblies
Assemble conveyor components with supervisor
Bolt or weld sub-assemblies together with supervision
Maintain tools and equipment organized in shop trailer or trucks
Conduct all work processes in a safe manner
Ability to lift a minimum of 60 pounds
Ability to withstand working in changing weather conditions including outdoor and indoor on a year-round basis
Ability to bend, stand, stoop, sit, climb, lift, walk and move body in various positions according to the requirements of the working environment.
Must be willing to travel at least 5 days in a week. Overnight stays required. Travel via automobile or plane required

Other Functions:

Contribute to the continuous improvement of the department and processes
Attend training classes as required
Travel to job sites to make field measurements and/or observe


Accuracy of flow schematic and system layout, general arrangement and detail drawings
Maintaining schedule as assigned by department manager and project manager including arriving at scheduled time for work
Safe execution of job duties, personal safety when traveling and at job sites and responsibility to conduct behavior in a safe, professional manner
Conduct operation of job according to the scheduled time frame. Meet all deadlines


High school diploma or equivalent
Welding experience minimum: 6-12 months
Proficient in 2D and/or 3D CAD, preferably AutoCAD and Inventor
Blue print reading
Basic math skills – plus fractions/decimals
Ability to interact with others as a team player
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Good organization skills
Quick learner
Strong problem solving skills
NCCCO Crane certification preferred but not required
