Reports To:   Director of Family Services

Schedule: Full-time

Starting Pay Range:  $21.33-23.79/hour

Status:                        Hourly, Non-Exempt

INTRODUCTION
Ronald McDonald House Charities ® of Kentuckiana (RMHCK) is built on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on the health of their child – not where they can afford to stay, get their next meal, do their laundry, or lay their head at night to rest. RMHCK is more than a house. It’s a home and support system allowing families to stay together and focus on the healing of their sick children at a critical time. All programs and services are free of charge to families.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Family Services Manager plays a crucial role at RMHCK, as they are central to our commitment to delivering exceptional service to the families we support. This key position not only fosters a compassionate and caring environment but also acts as a liaison with our volunteers. It’s essential for the manager to be a positive representative of RMHCK and our mission, emphasizing the importance of clear communication and accountability.

 

Customer service-

·        Greet families and guests as they arrive.

General Family Services tasks-

·          Check families in and out- Ensuring all information in Family Registry i.e., photos, ids and insurance information is recorded properly.

·          Schedule occupancy of guest rooms

·          Supply meaningful tasks and thank volunteers appropriately.

·          Supply a teamwork approach to problem solving.

·          Answer phone calls in a clear manner/transferring calls to proper staff-guest room.

·          Serve on a rotation of staff to be on-call during some weekends and holidays.

 

 

 

Administrative tasks-

·           Call and or text families on wait list/registration list to verify check in time, number of guests.

·          Input end-of-shift notes into Family Registry to ensure communication with all Guest Services staff for upcoming shifts.

·          Open and/or close cash register -counting the money correctly, handling sales transactions, communicating any issues to Director of Finance and Director of Family Services.

·          Be responsible for handling emergency situations in the house; tornado warnings, fires, 911 calls.

·          Accept donations and place those donations in the correct storage places within the House. Have donation forms filled out and placed in daily envelope. (Donation forms transitioning to electronic)

·          Upkeep of the volunteer room checklist- filling out rooms, days of stay, properly making sure book, welcome board, and family registry match.

 

 

 

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
·       Strong customer service skills

·       Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills to effectively work with a variety of people in one-on-one, small group and large group settings.

·       Team player that eagerly collaborates and works well with other staff, board members, volunteers, donors, and RMHCK families.

Previous hospitality and/or managerial experience a plus
Ability to work with a diverse group of constituents (families, volunteers, donors, staff) while keeping professional boundaries.
·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.

Self-starter and self-directed.  Ability to work independently; manage several projects at a time with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail and the big picture; meet deadlines; operate comfortably in a fast-paced environment; turn strategy and concept into detailed work plan with goals and objectives.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proactive and strategic thinker. Identify problems, define central issues, evaluate options, and propose and implement solutions.
·       Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and/or Trauma Informed Care training a plus.

·       Ability to lift 10 pounds.
