Job Summary:

The General Manager of our Black Jockey’s Lounge restaurant will lead all aspects of our business including maintaining the restaurant’s revenue, service, profitability, staffing, and quality goals. The General Manager should have extensive experience in restaurant operations and management. The ultimate goals are ensuring that the restaurant runs smoothly and customers and staff have great experiences at our location. The General Manager reports to the Chief of Staff.


Operations Management

  • Coordinate daily Front of the House and Back of the House restaurant operations so that all teams are working efficiently to deliver timely and friendly service.
  • Regularly review product quality and research new vendors when quality standards are not met.
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety regulations.
  • Control operational costs and identify measures to reduce waste thereby improving profit.
  • Create detailed reports on weekly, monthly and annual revenues and expenses.
  • Implement policies and protocols that will maintain future restaurant operations.

Employee Management

  • Hire, retain, motivate, and discipline staff according to company expectations, values, and policies to ensure the culture of Black Jockeys Lounge is one of respect and inclusion.
  • Schedule and supervise all staff in the restaurant to ensure proper coverage during operating hours.
  • Monitor and review staff performance according to company procedures and provide feedback to employees to improve productivity.
  • Ensure staff follow all safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
  • Ensure new and current employees receive adequate training on proper customer service practices
  • Resolve staff issues as they arise routing to upper management as appropriate.
  • Complete personnel paperwork in a timely manner routing to the various company departments as appropriate.
  • Lead by example during moments of fast-paced, high-volume business ensuring that the staff is focused on delivering great service in a friendly and professional manner.

Customer Service Management

  • Deliver superior service and maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Respond efficiently and accurately to customer complaints in a manner that appropriately retains the customer and minimizes loss for the business.
  • Promote the brand in the local community through word-of-mouth and restaurant events.
  • Recommend ways to reach a broader audience (e.g. discounts and social media ads) and increase revenue.
  • Frequently check-in with customers to ensure they are satisfied with the experience; resolve issues when necessary.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Extensive food and beverage knowledge, with ability to remember and recall ingredients and dishes to inform customers and wait staff.
  • Familiarity with restaurant management software like OpenTable and PeachWorks.
  • Strong leadership, motivational and people skills.
  • Acute financial management skills.


Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, hospitality management, or culinary science is preferred.
Proven work experience as a Restaurant Manager, Restaurant General Manager, Hospitality Manager or similar role

Salary: $55,000.00 – $70,000.00 per year
