Responsibilities

  • Plans and organizes capital projects to improve the environment of care
  • Plans and develops operating and capital budgets consistent with the direction of the organization
  • Develops goals and standards of development that ensure the highest quality of facilities
  • Plans project schedules to most effectively complete projects in a manner which minimizes disruption to the hospital
  • Provides leadership to other hospital departments in facilities development
  • Interfaces with all departments to ensure that work environments are efficient and of the highest quality
  • Works with respective VPs to enhance the effectiveness of the facility
  • Controls capital budget costs on a project-by-project basis to ensure complete project costs are kept at or below the established capital budget
  • Evaluates construction and project change orders and determines acceptance and responsibility
  • Maintains a means of tracking project costs to date
  • Prepares capital budgets for future capital projects in a manager that is most representative of the required scope of work
  • Responsible for communicating the philosophy, goals, standards, procedures, plans, and activities of the organization to the assigned design consultants and contractors
  • Holds weekly or bi-weekly project meetings to ensure staff and project team awareness of the various projects and their effect on hospital operation
  • Participates in community activities and/or professional organizations to promote the service of the department and image of the hospital
  • Assesses the size and type of contractors needed and adjusts contractor assignments appropriately as measure by completion of their assignments within established time frames and budgets

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Architecture, Design, Construction Management, or related Facility field
  • A Minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar position with basic management experience
  • Registration or certification a plus, but not required
