Service Technician

Reports To:Operations Manager


FLSA Status:Full-Time; Non-Exempt

Pay Range: $18 – $22 / hour

Position Summary:

Self-starter with field service technician expertise who exceeds customer service expectations. You will drive service success with a goal of improving customer satisfaction, maximizing client retention, and increasing profitability. Apply high-level knowledge of science, mathematics, and technology to enhance client trust, build rapport, and drive yourself and your team to meet annual goals. This position fosters team unity as you work in close collaboration with management and fellow team members to create positive working relationships with clients and customers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Installation, maintenance, calibration and repair of industrial weighing equipment.
Respond to Call Service (Emergency) to fix and repair Customer’s Scales – calls could be during or after working hours. Must be willing to work some overtime and weekend hours, supporting on-call response with other assigned duties – includes some limited overnight travel.
Fundamental knowledge of using a digital multi-meter (DMM).
Perform calibration, service and repair work mostly unsupervised.
Consistently maintain good work attendance, timeliness and productive work ethic with emphasis on honesty and integrity.
An understanding of applied and technical mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
Calibration technicians need troubleshooting skills to determine the reasons why measurements and test results are not within the expected range.
The ability to analyze raw data, extract key information, and draw logical conclusions about data is important since calibration technicians analyze test results, make recommendations, and apply innovative solutions to complex problems.
Calibration technicians communicate on a regular basis with colleagues and clients; they need excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey information related to standards, protocols, equipment, and safety.
Collaboration with outside resources.
Work Requirements:

You should be a critical thinker who is able to apply innovative solutions to complex problems.
Good vision and hand-eye coordination are essential as well.
Proficiency in asset management software.
Be computer proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
Have a strong understanding of computer system peripherals and communication configurations
A strong understanding of a wide variety of precision measurement equipment, to include the care and use of Instrumentation, Gages, and Precision Measurement Equipment; calibration program management, and Measurement Principles.
Must maintain a professional image.
Must be willing to meet safety and grooming standards for all clients when the need arises.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving history.

High school diploma, minimum.
Strong mechanical, electronic and / or technical background in industrial environment required.
Class B CDL license preferred – must get within 6 months of hire.
2 Year Technical Degree preferred but not required.
Calibration experience is preferred.
Welding and/or concrete knowledge preferred but not required.
Working Conditions:

Flexibility to work when Customer needs require it and may exceed a 40-hour work week with some overnight travel and weekend work.

This position may include exposure to high hazard areas i.e. high voltage, high levels of noise, and to hazardous fumes, odors, dirt and/or dust.
While much of the job entails sitting, some standing, bending overhead reaching, repetitive hand motion, stair climbing, and hand gripping is required along with the unassisted lifting of equipment.
