Description:
A professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of patients.
The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe, effective patient and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.
The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit and promoting personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education.
The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members.
Utilizing the caring processes of the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care, the RN is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care.
The RN emphasizes patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction.
The RN applies educational and professional experiences in delivering quality care and mentoring/precepting staff.
Job Responsibilities:
Assessment: Performs assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition.
Demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions.
Development & Implementation: Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care and reviews and revises the plan as indicated.
Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary services.
Utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization, patient, and family.
Evaluation: Monitors and documents response to clinical interventions.
Education: Facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient and family needs.
Ensures relevant information is delivered during their stay and at discharge.
Leadership: Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel.
Functions as a mentor/preceptor, encouraging and facilitating teamwork.
Identifies and communicates opportunities for improvement effectively.
Participates in quality, safety, and service improvement efforts and implements practice changes.
Complies with regulatory standards and participates in the governance model.
