More into birding? 394 bird species have been documented in the state. Of course, Kentucky is known for its horse farms – over 13,000 farms with over 110,000 horses and ponies – many open to the public. Kentucky boasts a vibrant and diverse artisan community, with nearly 6,000 arts-related businesses, fairs, and festivals in places like the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea and in Paducah’s LowerTown Arts District.
