Job description:
The Hat Shoppe is seeking a friendly, stylish, and creative Sales Associate to join our retail team. The ideal candidate has retail sales or customer-service experience, a strong appreciation for fashion and craftsmanship, and the ability to sew.

Key Responsibilities
- Welcome customers and create a warm, memorable shopping experience
- Help customers select hats based on their style, occasion, fit, and wardrobe
- Provide personalized styling and product recommendations
- Process purchases and operate the point-of-sale system accurately
- Work toward individual and store sales goals
- Maintain attractive displays and keep the sales floor organized and polished
- Restock merchandise and assist with inventory
- Prepare and package customer purchases with care
- Assist with special orders, appointments, events, and busy Derby-season traffic
- Support hat finishing, alterations, repairs, and creative studio projects
- Use hand-sewing and machine-sewing skills for approved tasks
- Keep the retail and studio areas clean, organized, and properly supplied
- Represent The Hat Shoppe brand with professionalism, enthusiasm, and personal style
Qualifications
- Previous retail sales, fashion, boutique, or customer-service experience preferred
- Basic hand-sewing skills required
- Machine-sewing experience is a plus
- A creative eye and appreciation for fashion, design, craftsmanship, or millinery
- Friendly, confident, and comfortable starting conversations with customers
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Dependable, organized, and detail-oriented
- Willing to learn hat fitting, styling, finishing, and basic millinery techniques
- Able to work both independently and as part of a creative team
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment
- Available to work weekends, special events, and extended hours during peak seasons

Position Details
- Position: Full-time/Part-time
- Location: 1201 Story Ave. Louisville, KY 40206
- Schedule: Store Hours: Mon-Fri 11am-5pm, Sat 10am-5pm
- Compensation: $16/hr plus commissions
