Job Summary:
Provides excellent service to Kentucky Performing Arts patrons and instructive supervision to volunteers by executing essential duties personally or through effectively delegated supervision.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supports the mission, vision, and values of Kentucky Performing Arts while understanding and complying with company expectations, policies and procedures.
- Plans work and executes tasks independently. Adapts well to changing priorities, deadlines, and directions with a positive and open mindset. Communicates clearly, consistently, respectfully, and collaboratively when communicating on behalf of KPA.
- Participates in all appropriate internal and external meetings, as well as professional development programs to maintain competency and increase acumen.
- Effectively manages financial and physical resources to achieve the mission and goals of KPA.
- Continually works to improve supervisory skills.
- Completes administrative tasks correctly and on time.
- Listens and responds effectively to patron questions and feedback.
- Resolves patron problems to the patron’s satisfaction within scope of resources available.
- Complies with or oversees compliance with all emergency procedures of the Kentucky Center.
- Performs a wide variety of tasks and changes focus quickly as demands change.
- Oversees Front of House operations for a given area during assigned KPA events.
- Seats patrons, enforces KPA rules, and identifies and solves problems as they occur.
- Informs House Manager of the details of the event for inclusion in the House Report.
- Carries out duties as assigned per event including, but not limited to:
- Supervising a staff of volunteers.
- Volunteer check-in and check-out.
- Supervision of program stuffing and distribution.
- Briefing of volunteers regarding performance/event information, placement, and emergency procedures.
- Observing and responding to patron comments.
- Provides emergency assistance to patrons as needed.
- Provides written documentation of volunteer performance, incidents, etc. during assignment.
- Being available to volunteers and patrons before, during and after performances to answer questions and assist as needed.
- Acts as a liaison between renters and KPA staff during events in the absence of a House Manager or Senior Manager of House and Volunteer Services.
- Assists the House Manager using established procedures during any emergency situation.
- Attends monthly departmental staff meetings and mandatory KPA workshops and maintains regular established standards of communication with House Management office.
- Understands, and is accountable to, all departmental standards, procedures and policies.
- Accurately and completely fills out department forms in accordance with company policy.
- May be required to train new House and Floor Managers as needed.
- Assists the House Manager as requested during non-emergency situations.
- Other duties that may be assigned by supervisor.
Essential Physical and Other Responsibilities:
- Must posses excellent skills in reading, writing and speaking English.
- Ability to lift approximately (35-40) pounds unassisted using appropriate lifting techniques and/or devices.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- The employee is frequently required to hear, sit, stand, and walk.
- At times, employee will be required to carry, push, pull, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, feel, use hand/eye/foot coordination, and use repetitive motions.
- Must be able to effectively navigate the facility, both public and non-public spaces.
- On occasion, events will be outdoors and exposure to the elements should be anticipated.
- Loud noise should be anticipated at certain concerts/events.
- Must be able to navigate all areas of the buildings, both public and non-public.
Education, License, and Skills:
- The employee must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational skills.
- Must be able to work with a diverse group of people and have the ability to work independently or as a team member.
- Prior experience in audience services, customer services, retail, sales, hospitality services or client relations preferred.
- Must attend KPA provided AED/CPR Certification classes, when courses are made available (every two years).
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
